El relato de la madre de Daniel Alfonso Velásquez Buriticá, quien fue desaparecido el 4 de octubre de 2004 cuando salía de su casa rumbo a la universidad, en Bogotá. Ella asegura que seguirá buscando a su hijo hasta que lo encuentre.
Cuando Daniel, mi hijo, no llamó ni llegó a la casa pensé: algo le pasó. Dije que tenía que salir a buscarlo. Le pedí a Dios que me diera fuerzas y empecé a seguir su rastro. Desde ese día, el 4 de octubre de 2004, mi vida no volvió a ser la misma. Es un vacío que aún no puedo describir con palabras.
Todo empezó a la 1:20 p.m., cuando Daniel salió de la casa a llevar un trabajo a la Universidad Javeriana, en Bogotá, donde cursaba quinto semestre de Ingeniería de Sistemas. Dijo: “Chao, ma”. Yo le respondí: “Chao, hijito, que te vaya bien”. No se llevó nada, únicamente su morralito de estudio. A las 4:00 p.m. me llamaron sus compañeros y me dijeron que él no había llegado a clase y que no había llevado el trabajo en grupo que debía entregar.
Se me hizo raro porque él nunca faltaba, él era muy responsable. Ahí me entró la angustia. “Pero, ¿qué pasó?”, me pregunté. Con la familia –mi esposo y mis hijos– fuimos a los alrededores de la universidad, hablamos con los profesores y con los compañeros, pero nadie notó un comportamiento extraño. Todo era aparentemente normal.
Decidimos ir a las autoridades y nos dijeron que había que esperar, que fuéramos a otra institución. Una vez allí, los funcionarios nos respondieron que debíamos esperar 72 horas. Vimos todos los casos de cuerpos que llegaban allí, pero ninguno era el de Daniel. Allá me dijeron que pasara a otra autoridad judicial, que allá tomarían mi caso.
En efecto asumieron la investigación por la desaparición de Daniel. Pero nada, absolutamente nada. Ningún resultado. Entonces de manera paralela buscábamos con toda la familia por toda la ciudad y en los lugares aledaños a la casa, en Chapinero. Yo empecé a hacer un recorrido de la casa a la universidad. Iba con la fotico de Daniel, preguntando por él a las personas que pasaban por esa zona a la misma hora que mi hijo. Algunas de ellas dijeron que no lo volvieron a ver.
Busqué en otras entidades judiciales. Pero ellos no podían asumir la investigación, porque otra institución ya tenía el caso. Lo que podíamos hacer era buscar por nuestros propios medios: estuvimos en los hogares de paso, en refugios, en albergues. También estuvimos en el Bronx, porque pensábamos que de pronto le habían dado escopolamina y estuviera por ahí perdido. Seguimos buscando y yo me entregué de lleno a buscarlo.
Fui a muchos sitios y no me prestaron atención. Eso es muy duro. Es muy difícil que le digan a uno: ‘Ese caso ya está en investigación, váyase para su casa. Usted no tiene nada que hacer por acá, que tenemos mucho trabajo’.
Le seguía pidiendo a Dios que me diera fuerzas. Durante ese primer mes no comía ni dormía. Fue horrible. Por la noche me la pasaba al pie de la ventana, por si lo veía pasar. En el día llevaba a mis hijos al colegio y de inmediato me iba a buscar a Daniel. Ya había perdido 10 kilos, estaba muy enferma, estaba muriendo en vida. Me parecía mentira lo que estaba viviendo. Mis hijos me dijeron que estaban muy angustiados. “Usted se nos va a morir”. Yo les dije que me iba a recuperar, me propuse que no me iba a dejar morir. Mi misión era cuidar a mis hijos y seguir buscando a Daniel.
“Ya sé dónde está su hijo”
Nos pusimos la tarea de empapelar la ciudad con afiches que tenían la fotico de Daniel. Y empezaron a llamarnos mucho. Claro, eso nos devolvía la esperanza. En una ocasión, una persona que llamó dijo: “Ay, sí, a ese muchacho lo encontramos y lo tiene una señora por acá en unas bodegas en el centro. Ella lo está cuidando y él está muy enfermo. Él quiere que ustedes vayan a verlo a tal dirección”. Mi esposo salió para allá, mientras yo llamaba a las autoridades. Resultó siendo un engaño. Eran habitantes de calle que llamaban para saber qué plata les íbamos a dar, según nos lo confirmaron los investigadores.
Así hubo muchas llamadas, pero el giro en la búsqueda se produjo en 2008. Nosotros teníamos un negocito, una ferretería en Bogotá. En la parte de afuera estaba pegado un afiche con la foto de Daniel. Un señor que era nuestro cliente se quedó mirando la imagen y dijo que nos ayudaría a buscarlo. “Yo soy papá y mamá al mismo tiempo. No puedo imaginar lo que significa perder a un hijo. Voy a intentar ayudarla”, me dijo y se llevó una foto de Daniel. Al cabo de unos meses pasó y me dijo que tenía un amigo en la Fiscalía que estaba colaborando en el tema y que tuviera paciencia.
Después volvió a la ferretería y me dijo: “Ya sé dónde está su hijo. Lo tiene un grupo armado al margen de la ley. Lo corroboramos con dos muchachos que están en la cárcel. Uno de ellos decía que Daniel lloraba mucho, porque lo sometían a un adoctrinamiento para que se uniera a la guerrilla. Y él no quería hacerlo. El otro muchacho que estaba en la cárcel me dijo que había hablado con Daniel, quien le había dicho que a él lo había engañado una muchacha en la universidad.
Ahí empezó una nueva búsqueda. Me dijeron que les escribiera un correo a ese grupo. Lo hice desde un café internet, por medio una cuenta anónima de correo electrónico, porque uno no sabe, pero nada. Nunca recibí respuesta.
Fui al Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja y hablé con un asesor que me atendió. “Yo le voy a colaborar. Voy a comunicarme con mis compañeros en Cali para ver quiénes están en misión y que nos colaboren con eso. Eso es demorado. Cualquier cosa la llamo para que no venga y no pierda el viaje”. Le dejé la foto. Me ha tocado esperar.
También hablé con personas que trabajan en las cárceles. Les he contado mi historia, pero ellos me dijeron que contactara al Inpec. Aunque de allá me dijeron que me ayudarían, después de un tiempo volví y no salieron con nada. Me quedé sin saber qué hacer.
Siempre he tratado de buscar en todas partes. Por eso, empecé a enviar mensajes por la radio, a través de la emisora La Carrilera de las Cinco, que tiene un espacio entre las 5:00 a.m. y 6:00 a.m. con las víctimas. Entonces nosotros llamamos ahí y mandamos mensajes. También me acerqué a los exsecuestrados. Si liberaban a Clara Rojas o a Consuelo González de Perdomo, iba y las buscaba. También hablé con John Frank Pinchao. Les mostraba una foto de Daniel y les preguntaba si lo vieron…cualquier cosa. Ellos me decían que no tuvieron contacto con civiles, que los tenían aparte, que no me podían informar nada.
Sin embargo, yo seguía enviando mensajes por la emisora. Ellos me ratificaron que todos los días los secuestrados escuchaban ese programa, porque les daba esperanza y los fortalecía mucho. Hoy por hoy lo sigo haciendo.
El caso de Daniel estaba en la Sijín y el investigador nos colaboró mucho y estuvo atento hasta que llegó a la Fiscalía. Lo tuvo el fiscal 42 y ahora la Fiscalía Segunda, donde están los de desaparición forzada. La Fiscalía me ha ayudado mucho. Aun así, cada mes voy al Instituto de Medicina Legal, a la Defensoría… Solo me falta buscar en cementerios. Incluso pensé en hablar con el grupo armado, pero en el momento en que Daniel desapareció mis hijos eran pequeños. Pensaba: ¿Qué tal me maten o me dejen allá? Si me pasa algo, ¿quién lo va a buscar? Ahora que ese grupo dejó las armas no he podido hablar con ellos. Como se desintegró, quedaron repartidos por todas partes. Eso ha hecho todo más difícil.
Estos 16 años me han enseñado que nunca nos debemos rendir en la búsqueda de las personas desaparecidas. Yo seguiré buscando a mi hijo hasta que lo encuentre; seguirá siendo una búsqueda y una lucha incansable.
